Frenemy for Individuals and Companies? Data-driven Decisions in the Organization

Data-driven HR work is no longer a vision of the future, but reality in many companies. Data-based HR management offers a whole bunch of opportunities for companies and employees: from strategic personnel planning and employee recruitment to individualized training programs and employee retention, the entire HR life-cycle benefits from evidence-based decisions. However, the collection, storage and analysis of personal data in the company also creates points of friction that affect, for example, data protection or the apparent objectification of ultimately subjective decisions. Which practices are well suited to basing (HR) decisions on objective data in the best possible way while still placing the individual employee at the center of HR work? In other words, how should data-driven HR work be designed so that companies, employees and applicants benefit equally?
