Intelligent and Collaborative Robotics in the Factory of the Future

In the past, the automation of industrial production processes using robotics was associated with a clear picture: robots that are shielded by fences for the safety of employees and always perform the same movements in highly standardized production processes. Accordingly, such automation was associated with high costs and was only more widespread in parts of industry with large series production, such as automobile production. This picture has changed significantly in recent years, partly due to new possibilities based on digital technologies. Today, more and more manufacturers are offering intelligent and collaborative robotics solutions that can gather information about their environment, adapt to it and interact with it. This means that industrial robotics can be used much more flexibly. In addition, operating and programming concepts that are becoming ever simpler are reducing the barriers for the use of robotics in production.

From a company perspective, however, the question arises where and how intelligent and collaborative robotics can be used best. This edition of the webinar series “From research to practice” by Bayern Innovativ offers an insight into current research activities and results on intelligent and collaborative robotics for industrial applications.
