The rapid spread of the Internet in society has supported a far-reaching process of civil society and economic change. Initially just a technical infrastructure, today the Internet is fundamentally changing the way people communicate and obtain information, how their working world looks like and how they spend their free time, how political processes work, opinions are formed and how values are created and knowledge is imparted. The Internet thus has far-reaching effects on a country’s civil society and economic development and its position in global competition.
In cooperation with the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation and the Faculty of Informatics at the TU of Vienna, the Department of Computer Science at the CIT School at the TU of Munich is therefore organizing a public lecture series on the subject of digitization. This year, the topic of digital sustainability will be viewed from the perspective of different disciplines in order to achieve a comprehensive and interdisciplinary understanding of the matter.
