Smart City Regensburg: Challenges and Opportunities of a Smart City

Smart City as a concept of integrated, sustainable and participatory urban development uses the possibilities of digitization and innovative solutions in a targeted manner in order to continue to make the city livable and lovable. The focus of the Smart City is therefore on all the people who together shape the Smart City of the future and define how they want to live in Regensburg in the future. In accordance with the priorities defined in the “Regensburg Plan 2040” urban development concept and based on the leitmotifs fair, green and productive, the city of Regensburg is taking action within the framework of the federally funded REGENSBURG_NEXT project as well as with a broad and consistent participation of the public.

In a joint dialogue at eye level with the urban society, Prof. Dr. Georg Stephan Barfuss, representative of the Department for Economics, Science and Finance of the City of Regensburg, Prof. Dr. Godehard Brüntrup, Professor of Philosophy at the Munich University of Philosophy and Franziska Meier, Smart City Coordinator of the City of Regensburg, shine a light on the opportunities and challenges of the Smart City. The key note on digitization and artificial intelligence by Prof. Brüntrup shows social and ethical aspects of the digital transformation, which will be enlarge upon in the subsequent panel discussion. After that a tasting of regional organic beers offers the possibility for a relaxed exchange.
