Networking meeting: Presentation and discussion of the “KI Campus Ostbayern” initiative

The “KI Campus Ostbayern” (AI Campus East Bavaria) is a cooperation platform through which scientists from the East Bavarian universities can network with one another in the field of AI. The collaboration is based on the INDIGO network (“Internet and Digitalization East Bavaria”), which has existed since 2014, and the cooperation in the TRIO university network (“Transfer and Innovation East Bavaria”). The initiative of the “KI Campus Ostbayern” emerged from the competition of the Bavarian state government at the beginning of 2020 for 50 new AI professorships. When applying for this, the East Bavarian universities already acted as team. In total, 13 new AI professorships were won for East Bavaria.

This cooperation is now to be continued and expanded within the framework of the “KI Campus Ostbayern”. The initiative is intended to give scientists the opportunity to exchange ideas about their research work in the field of AI and to get an overview of this research area in East Bavaria. Here, opportunities for research collaborations are to be localized and, at the same time, the application perspectives for economy and society in practical projects in the field of AI should be taken into account from the start.

At the “KI Campus Ostbayern”, all scientists from the East Bavarian universities are free to participate in the joint AI research and related fields. As a first step, the networking meeting on October 26 is intended to help to exchange ideas with scientists from the East Bavarian universities to shape the joint initiative in order to create a basis for further cooperation.

Target group:

All scientists from the East Bavarian universities who are interested in joint research and networking in the field of AI are cordially invited.

Monday 2020-10-26, 02:00 pm – 04:00 pm, online event
