Since the end of 2004 Prof. Dr. Bernhard Dotzler is professor of Media Studies at the institute for Information and Media, Language and Culture (I:IMSK) at the University of Regensburg. In the same year he wrote his habilitation and received his teaching qualification for the subjects of modern German literary history and media studies.
From 2000-2004 Bernhard Dotzler was research director for the History of Literature and Science at the Center for Literary Research in Berlin and in 1995 he received his doctorate.
His research focuses on IT history / history of computing, archeology of media (theory), media and science history (media & scinece), literature and media and advertising research.

Almost all questions of media studies, both of the most general nature and very specific (such as the question of the media of space travel, i.e. astronomical questions about information technology)
In relation to the areas mentioned, media studies are called upon to make their criticism, both historical and the current state of technology and theory formation. My relevant topics in research and teaching therefore include the history of AI as well as AI criticism.
To the fact that the so-called ‘digital natives’ learn to realize to what extent they are initially more ‘digitally naive’ because of their ‘original familiarity’ with all the joys of digital consumption – and that the knowledge of my generation does not mean the ignorance of ‘digital immigrants’ represents, but to a certain extent has the eyewitness of the ‘Digital Founding Fahters’ on his side.
If it succeeds: independent critical thinking.
Because AI has just become the ruling reality.
AI criticism, both historically and theoretically (i.e. media-philosophical in a certain way) – s. the answers to questions 3 and 4.

Mostly self-study; partly through supplementary courses in programming languages and computational linguistics attended during my time as a student of German and philosophy. Own smaller programs for simulating a Turing machine and for the games NIM and MASTER MIND.
Well, who finds Bayesian statistics easy -?
That she duped ‘us humans’.

My ideal would be that KI / AIs are taken apart. The reality will be that in this area too (as Alan Turing put it in a line from Shakespeare) “the fireworks with his own powder is blown”.
Rather critical (which is not (!) Synonymous with negative), see above.
How many AI professorships does the country really need? Isn’t it necessary – also with a view to AI, and just as an example – more musicology?
Mr. Dotzler, thank you very much for taking the time to answer these questions. We wish you a nice day!
